Pučišća village is a nice port on NW Coast of Brač Island.

They take pride in their white stone of which lots of legendary buildings are made. An urban legend says that even the White House in Washington DC is built with this stone, but that is a fabrication.

If you visit by a boat Pučišća is a safe port. There are moorings with electricity and water and by the waterfront there is more than enough depth for sailboats.

The great thing about Pučišća is that it is not as crowded as some ports on Brač, and you can find a spot even in high season. We were there in July and we were almost alone on the beach.

There is a stonemason school that teach to cut stone by hand following the ancient Roman method.

There is still a mass of tourists at Zlatni Rat at the end of September enjoying the magnificent beach and sun.

We enjoyed even more anchoring on the east part of the cape. Mild east wind turned our stern towards the beach and we jumped into turquoise sea.

We swam to the beach and had a beer which was, given the location not as expensive as one would expect. 20 kn for a cold pint.

When we sailed along southern coast of Brač Island Jugo (SE wind) was blowing at 30 knots and it was too much to enjoy Zlatni Rat so we sailed to ACI marina Vrbovska.

It was amazing how Jugo faded in the marina and even in season you are likely to get a berth, because Vrbovska is well off standard routes tourists take during their sailing trips across southern Damlatia.

If you take a look at the last photo…this is how it was the following morning. Sea as if it were oil.

If you charter your boat from Marina Kaštela, which is one of the most popular and busiest starting points for sailing the Adriatic, a good spot to spend your first or last night aboard is Bobovišće anchorage.

Bobovišće is a deep bay with two smaller bays at the end. Both are quite narrow so during season there can be a bit crowdy. It is well protected from bora and jugo (NE and SE winds) and not so much from Maestral – wind from NW which is a sign of stable weather.

It is only 13 miles from Bobovišće to Marina Kaštela so in you can be docked in the marina in little less than two hours sailing.

During high season, Lučice anchorage on Brač Island about a mile east of Split gate (Splitska vrata), is very crowded. We stopped there in April and we were alone there.

Lučice is well protected from all winds, except for from south mabye.

There is 20 buoys there mainly for the guests of restaurant Smrčeva. They are the oncessionaire at Lučice as well.

The prices vary from 80kn to 240 kn (for boats larger then 12m.

Lučice and the owners of the restaurant are well known for their care for the environment and clean anchorage.

Milna is a very nice port on Brač Island with two marinas. One is ACI marina Milna, situated right in the port, and the other is Marina Vlaška. It is about 10 minute walk from Vlaška to the port.

We tried to fill up our gas tank in Milna on Brač Island and it was open only ‘till 1PM. Last year these opening hours lasted until May 15th. After that, the station was open until 7PM.

For those withput their own ride – there is a catamaran Karolina, that connects Milna and Split every day (almost). Check the timetable here: www.jadrolinija.hr

Brač Island also has interesting leftovers from ex Yugoslavian army. There are underground docks for submarines and battleships.

The docks are usually nicely masked with rocks with artificial rocks. You can dock there with larger sailboats and even go into the underground dock on foot or with your dinghy. The depth in the dock is usually about 5-6 meters. And it is about 8 meters wide.

The sailboat on the photo is Bavaria 36.

About a mile and a half SE from Milna on Hvar Island there is an interesting natural port with a breakwater made of rock.

There are buoys in this natural port which belong to a local restaurant. This natural port called Zub oz Zaraća is protected from winds from all sides, except from SW to SE.

It is a good thing that the restaurant owner put those buoys there, otherwise no one would be able to stop there, because the depth is too big to drop anchor.

If there are winds from the South it is better to hide in Malo Zaraće on the West side-towards Milna.

Hey adrialog users. I presume, most of you are nautical enthusiasts and that this portal is ment to share info about experience of our sailing in Adriatic - by the way great idea this website!
So here goes: Me and my friends went sailing in Croatian Dalmatiam islands in the begining of April this year and we stopped in Split just in time to visit the fair. Despite this global shit there were quite some boats on display, but for my taste too few sailboats.
Anyway our week was great, the weather was just right and I`m sure, that we will visit again!
Hope to hear from as much people as possible, because I would like to hear other people`s experiance as well.

Moli Onte restaurant is where you feel like you’re visiting an old friend, where the food is great, especially grilled fish, and where prices are not as steep as at some places across Adriatic.

Do not ask for a menu. Take what has been caught in the morning and what they grew in their own backyard. They also offer delicious olive oil they produce themselves! We always leave with a couple of bottles.

There are buoys in front of the restaurant and if you are on a charter boat you don’t even have to lower your dinghy because they come and pick you up and deliver you back to your boat.

The bay itself is relatively open so there can be some swells from other boats and ships passing by as well as winds except bora (NE wind).
